Recently, the Desert Forge Foundation (DFF) completed Warrior Farmer Project 2016, training eight Veterans and seven community residents. An additional 20 volunteers assisted throughout the growing season as well.  It was a big year for us, growing about 10,000 chile plants and bringing about $30,000 in revenue from sales at the Downtown Growers market and other sales.

Warrior Farmer Project 2016 focused on the farming of heirloom chile peppers of the following varieties: Chimayo, Jemez, AZ 88, Barker, Sandia Hot and NuMex Big Jim; jalapenos, tomatoes, and other vegetables as well.

This coming year, we hope to try our hand at “Market Gardening” as well as increasing production to 30,000 chile plants.
